MEET THE DOCTOR

From an early age, I’ve been driven by curiosity and a sense of wonder about people-what drives them…

I’m interested in how they process their environments and make choices, how they handle challenges, etc. This unquenchable curiosity and love of people are what led me to medical school initially, then on to choosing psychiatry and addiction psychiatry as my specialities. I wanted to know more about the human mind, and I wanted to make a difference in the lives of individuals who were suffering in silence.

I believe people should be given the opportunity to live their lives free of addiction.

I love rock music.

I love the intensity, the passion, and the fire that musicians express through their lyrics and on stage through guitars, bass, keyboards and drums. I love living life out loud and adventuring around the country to see my favorite bands live. There’s nothing like being immersed in the energy of the crowd with hearts racing, hands raised, fists pumping, and feet jumping wildly off the ground.

While at a Disturbed concert in 2019, I heard the lead singer introduce one of their songs about addiction called “A Reason to Fight.” He spoke passionately to the hearts of the audience about the struggles of addiction, mental health, and suicide and the millions of people that battle these demons on a daily basis.

As he spoke I felt a fresh fire ignite in my heart: I was called to serve individuals like him..

Each person’s journey and treatment plans should be as unique as they are. Using a biopsychosociospiritual model, I tailor treatment and recovery to the individual needs of each person through the combination of cutting-edge science, evidence-based medicine, spirituality and compassion. I consider multiple factors as I walk with each next patient through their recovery; including the type of drugs used, their character qualities, their personality type, etc. Matching treatment settings, evidence-based medications and therapeutic services to an individual’s problems and needs are critical elements to success in overcoming addiction. My calling is to help individuals regain control of their lives and return to productive functioning in family, life, purpose and society.
